I hold a Masters Level Degree in Speech Language Pathology as well as Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language Hearing Association. I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). With over 18 years of experience, I have worked in a variety of clinical settings including:
- Hospital (USCF Medical Center in California)
- Neonatal Intensive Care (level IV), Pediatric ICU
- Outpatient setting
- Early intervention
- School settings in both California and North Carolina
Feeding and Swallowing Expertise
My training and skills in the evaluation and treatment of infants, children and adults with feeding and swallowing disorders allows me to look at the patient from a variety of perspectives including medical as well as the social and environmental components of feeding. I use a gentle, child centered approach that attempts to take away the stress of eating and focus on what is holding your child back from consuming an age appropriate diet. I will work with you and your child to develop a plan that will help to meet your child’s feeding and nutritional goals. I will work with the patient and family members to help with regaining functional independence with communication and assist with helping my patients return to the safest diet consistency. I enjoy working with adults and family members in session to help achieve the most optimal return to function for speech and swallowing.

– extensive oral motor training to help your child overcomes difficulties due to bottle feeding, spoon feeding, chewing, open cup and straw drinking.
- Feeding and Swallowing Disorders :from the most medically complex problems to picky eaters including oral motor, sensory, reflux, behavioral, bottle transition problems, G-tubes, trach, aspiration, coughing/choking/gagging and obstruction. An oral and pharyngeal dysphagia program as well as assistance with diet modification and exercise program will also be provided as needed.
International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
Jill Odle is also an IBCLC who can assist with addressing breastfeeding challenges such as poor latch, suspected tongue tie and sucking and swallowing difficulties.
Jill is Certified as a Tethered Oral Tissue Specialist.

I have provided speech and language services in an array of settings including schools, home and outpatient clinic. I use a play based approach that allows me to develop a rapport with your child while focusing on their speech and language needs. A home program will be developed in order to provide carryover skills from the clinic to help meet your child’s speech and language needs in all environmental settings.
As a parent of two little girls, I understand how challenging it can be if your child is experiencing feeding or speech difficulties. My ultimate goal is to provide a nurturing setting for my patients in order to develop the skills to succeed. Alicia Colby M.A CCC-SLP – Speech-Language Pathologist
Alicia Colby is a speech language pathologist (SLP) who graduated with her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Communication Science and Disorders and Speech Language Pathology from the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, OH.
She is licensed by the board of North Carolina and has her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language Hearing Association.
Alicia has been practicing speech language pathology in a variety of settings as part of a multidisciplinary team since 2016, with both pediatric and adult populations. Experiences include working within outpatient clinical setting, inpatient rehabilitative settings, home health care, skilled nursing facilities, schools, telehealth, and early intervention.
Pediatric Speech and Language:
Alicia has speech and language experience in the pediatric population which includes diagnosis and treatment of:
- Receptive and Expressive Language Delays and Disorders
- Nonspeaking or minimally-speaking Communication
- Gestalt Language Processing (GLP; NLA Trained Clinician – AAC+GLP)

Alicia is a strong believer in using play-based and family-centered and/or team approach during pediatric speech and language therapy, where the family and therapist work together to create a supportive team, to help the child in meeting their therapy goals. Alicia believes in building a positive and motivating rapport to ensure that the child feels comfortable and supported, while making progress towards their goals.
Alicia has experience in working with developing and implementing various low and high-tech alternative and augmentative communication (AAC; e.g., signing, communication boards, iPad communication applications, communication devices, etc.), to promote functional communication within the child’s environment.
Adult Speech and Language:
Additionally, Alicia has experience with adult populations which includes the diagnosis and treatment of:
- Aphasia
- Dysphagia
- Cognition and Memory
- Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
- Post Head and Neck Cancer Treatment for speech and dysphagia

Morgan Leithead, M.S., CCC-SLP – Speech-Language Pathologist
Morgan Leithead is a licensed speech-language pathologist who brings warmth, experience, and a passion for working with children to Holly Springs Feeding & Speech. Originally from New York, she moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from East Carolina University. She then completed her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC.
Morgan’s interest in speech-language pathology began during college while working as a nanny for children who received speech therapy services. Her firsthand experience witnessing the impact of communication support sparked a deep passion for the field and confirmed her calling to work with children.
She has extensive experience in school-based settings and has worked with children ages 4 to 15. Her areas of expertise include the evaluation and treatment of receptive and expressive language disorders, articulation and phonological delays, fluency disorders, social/pragmatic language challenges, and auditory processing differences. Morgan uses evidence-based practices to develop individualized treatment plans that support her clients’ communication goals.
Morgan is also trained in pediatric feeding therapy, incorporating family-centered and play-based approaches to support children with feeding difficulties. She values a collaborative approach that empowers both children and their families to achieve success.
Outside of work, Morgan enjoys spending time with her family and her dog, Harper. She loves to exercise and explore new places whenever she can.
Amanda Martschenko MS CCC-SLP – Speech-Language Pathologist
Amanda grew up in the Raleigh area and is excited to be back providing speech and feeding therapy services to families in Holly Springs and the surrounding community. She earned her Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. Throughout her graduate training, she gained clinical experience across the lifespan, working with toddlers through older adults in outpatient, inpatient, and acute care settings. She completed her clinical fellowship at Holly Springs Feeding & Speech, where she advanced her skills in treating childhood speech and language delays, as well as pediatric feeding and swallowing disorders.
Amanda has a strong interest in pediatric feeding therapy, particularly using sensory-based and integrated approaches such as SOS (Sequential Oral Sensory), food chaining, and family-centered strategies.
Her pediatric experience includes the evaluation and treatment of receptive and expressive language disorders, early intervention, fluency disorders, articulation delays, phonological disorders, apraxia, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. In adult populations, she is experienced with dysphagia, aphasia, apraxia, dysarthria, cognitive-communication disorders, voice disorders, traumatic brain injury, and neurological conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, and dementia.
Amanda is passionate about providing individualized, evidence-based treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs. She values working collaboratively with families to create meaningful, functional outcomes. Her compassionate approach, combined with her clinical expertise, makes her a valued member of the Holly Springs Feeding & Speech team.
Kara Haywood MS CCC-SLP – Speech-Language Pathologist
Kara is originally from NY but considers herself a Tarheel since she moved to NC at the age of 9. She lives in Cary with her two boys who are 15 and 18. She brings more than 25 years of experience working as an SLP in the Raleigh area. She has a Master’s degree in Speech/Language Pathology from Vanderbilt University and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from UNC Chapel Hill. She has over 20 years of experience in Early Intervention, and she has worked 3 years as a contract SLP in Wake and Alamance County Public Schools. Her areas of interest include language and articulation skills in young and school-age children, social/pragmatic language skills, using art and music to help achieve speech-language goals, and speech-language development in young children from bilingual families. She has a basic knowledge of Spanish and French, and she enjoys studying them to improve her conversational skills. She believes strongly in collaborating whenever possible with families, teachers and other therapists to help treat the whole child.
In her free time, she enjoys photography, puzzles, singing and playing guitar, and walking on the greenways near her home.
